We were created to worship…

…and if we don’t worship the God who created us we WILL worship something else. And, when examined, the gods we make for ourselves tend to look a lot like us. Instead of worshiping God whose image we are made in, we create gods made in OUR image. I shudder to think of a god that would be anything like me.

Thankfully God is not. He is above and beyond anything we can imagine. He is infinitely holy, good, loving, faithful, generous, compassionate, merciful, powerful, truthful, just, wrathful and glorious. To list all of His attributes would take much more than a blog post.

Though infinitely above us, in His precious, tender love, mercy and compassion He makes Himself known to us.

Through His Word. (2 Timothy 3:16a)

Through the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:10-11)

Through Jesus. (Hebrews 1:1-2)

Through loving and serving one another. (1 John 4:11-12)

Through His creation. (Romans 1:19-20)

He makes himself known to us!

The God who is above all things, who is infinitely holy, who is infinitely above what we could ever imagine, makes Himself known to us.

The fact that our infinitely perfect, beautiful God wants to make Himself known to us should make us pause and breath out praise, adoration and worship to the One who deserves it all.
